Grade 4 ELAL Writing
Unit Plans: 540 Learning Activities for Grade 4 English Language Arts & Literature based on the new LearnAlberta curriculum from Alberta Education. Includes embedded digital: instructional videos, visual and auditory word work functions and levelled reading books. There are 180 instructional days in the school year.
Student Learning Outcomes Included: Writing: Pre-writing (research processes), Organizational Writing, Post-writing (revising & editing)
Writing: I can construct and organize text to share perspectives and develop creative written expression by creating written texts:
a. Pre-writing (research processes): using various text forms and structures for various audiences (purposes)
b. Organizational Writing: organizational processes, methods, and tools; sharing perspectives on a topic in a clear/focused manner; using various sentence beginnings, lengths, and types; logically ordering/grouping ideas into paragraphs (with topic and concluding sentences), applying creative thinking, word choice, sensory detail (figurative language) to express ideas or emotions and keep audience engaged; communicating (personal/character) voice through dialogue and punctuation; creating conclusions that wrap up events or leave readers wondering; and accessing sources to answer questions.
c. Post-writing (revising & editing): rereading/revising text to enhance clarity, fluency, spelling, punctuation, and grammar; including images, charts, graphs or other text features that support a purpose/audience; ethically and artistically sharing findings (cursive handwriting, appropriate letter formation, size, proportion and slant); and using proper citation processes and keyboarding skills.
